Sunset along the Puget Sound (August 2025)
Our last day and a half in Seattle was easygoing, but filled with lots of good food to be had (as you can tell by the title)! My partner and I had already done most of the activities we’d wanted to do in town, so it was a matter of relaxing, taking our time, and enjoying the Seattle atmosphere before we left. Here’s what we got up to during our last day in town.
…but before I get to the last day, let me recap what we got up to on our final night in town. I’d just gotten back from an afternoon out-and-about on my own, while my partner spent more time attending the yarn festival (the reason why we flew out to Seattle for the long weekend). We reconvened at the hotel and rested a bit before heading back out to get dinner.
Unfortunately, many restaurants were all booked out, as it was a Saturday night and it was summertime, aka peak tourist season. However, we were lucky to snag two spots at a temaki place (although it took about 45 minutes, as we did walk-in), and we ordered about six pieces each of temaki (Japanese handrolls). Nothing too extraordinary, but they satisfied us– the star of the show would have to have been the wagyu handroll, which was beautifully-seared and smoky.
Afterwards, we strolled the Waterfront nearby and grabbed some ice cream at Molly Moon’s, which actually originates from Seattle. I especially enjoyed the two flavors I got, which were s’mores and lavender honey. We also checked out golden hour along the Puget Sound, which was lovely and a great end to our final night in town. Nothing quite beats a beautiful view than a Pacific Northwest sunset!

We had a later rise the following morning; we packed up our luggage, checked out, and dropped off our bags with the hotel concierge before catching an Uber to Seattle’s Chinatown, where we actually got breakfast at a trendy Filipino café. Although I’m told that that café no longer does breakfast dishes now, we had a delicious plate of silog, which consisted of eggs, pickled vegetables, and amazing garlic rice– seriously, we couldn’t get enough of that rice! We also ordered some ube lattes (iced and hot– I preferred the former), as well as a few sweet pastries, including a black sesame bun and an Everything bun. All yummy and fueled us up for the day!

Afterwards, we headed a few blocks down to Arundel Books, a beautiful independent bookstore that sells poetry and rare, out-of-print books. It also has printing and book-binding services, which was interesting to learn about. The shop is small and a bit cramped, but it was a lovely place with plenty of natural lighting and columned archways that resembled a monastery. We didn’t buy anything, but we enjoyed browsing around and taking it all in.
My partner was starting to feel unwell, so we headed back to the hotel to rest a bit in the lobby. However, she felt okay to walk a block down to a nearby café, where we met up with my friend “V” who lives in Seattle. We had lunch together, enjoying coffee and some simple, but hearty tacos and overall just catching up on life. Good vibes all around!
Haupia latte (no photos of the tacos, since we ate them too quickly!)
Soon enough, it was time to head to the airport, so we bid farewell to “V,” returned to the hotel to collect our bags, and caught an Uber to the airport where we caught our 18h00 flight back to LA. It was a quick, uneventful ride, and we soon landed just a bit past 20h00. We were home by 21h00, tired but happy to be back. Unfortunately, my partner had a fever and got sick once we returned, and she spent the following week resting at home. Not the greatest way for her to end the time in Seattle, but we got through it.
…and that concludes our time in Seattle! It was a short, but lovely visit in the Pacific Northwest, and given I hadn’t been back since 2017, it was nice to return and check it out again. Although the trip ended with my partner getting sick, we still enjoyed much of our time in town with good food, beautiful sites, and a lively yarn festival. Seattle is one of my favorite cities to visit in the United States, and I’d love to head back sometime sooner than later!
Thanks for reading, and more travel adventures are coming your way! Stay tuned 🙂

You captured such a beautiful sunset along the Puget Sound, dear Rebecca. I wouldn’t leave the city without checking out Arundel Books, as it looks like an atmospheric bookstore – I love those vaulted ceilings, vintage wooden shelves, and a classic rolling ladder. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

I’m so glad you had an enjoyable visit in my hometown, Rebecca, but am sorry to hear your partner got sick. I guess that’s a risk of traveling. Thanks for sharing!

It was unfortunate that the trip ended on a not-so-great note, but thankfully, my partner recovered after some much-needed rest at home. Other than that, it was a fun time in Seattle!

That lavender honey ice cream sounds delicious! I don’t think I’ve ever had that flavor before. I’m sorry that your partner was sick at the end of the trip, but at least it sounds like a great trip — with her attending the yarn festival and you reliving your memories of Seattle.

Lavender honey is a delicious combination; I’ve had it in teas, coffees, and ice cream, of course, and there’s something lovely about the two flavors– sweet and floral– that makes it so good. It was unfortunate my partner got sick right at the very end of the trip, but she rested and recovered quickly once we were home. Overall, it was a good time in Seattle!

The Arundel book shop looks to be definitely my kind of place and the Taiwanese breakfast looks yummy too. A great weekend just a pity your partner caught a fever.

It was a Filipino breakfast! All the same, very delicious! Although my partner got sick in the end, it still was a good trip to Seattle overall

We have an open invitation to visit Seattle as one of my OH’s cousins lives there. I’m tempted but it’s a long way away……………..

The flight across the pond is a long one, but it might be worthwhile to see Seattle’s beauty!

Still mulling it over.

Waiting 45 minutes for a walk-in temaki spot on a peak-season Saturday and having the wagyu roll turn out to be the thing you remember — that’s the trade we make constantly. And the silog garlic rice sounds worth the ride out to Chinatown all on its own. Ending a trip slow instead of cramming in one more sight is underrated.

Sometimes, waiting for food can be rewarding! It was good we took it slow on our last day in Seattle, so we wouldn’t have to stress about the flight home!

A shame your partner ended the trip by falling ill but it seems you had a great time up to that point and enjoyed some tasty food!

I agree! It was a fun trip up until that point, but we made it work and flew home smoothly. Thankfully, my partner recovered a few days afterwards with plenty of rest!

Sorry, I remember it was Filipino now so I don’t know why I typed Taiwanese!
