Hey, folks!

As I’ve done so in previous years around this time, I’m taking a brief break from my travel-related content to wish all of you a very happy holiday season. Whether or not you celebrate Christmas, there’s no doubt that this is a festive time for many, to stay home and spend time with family, friends, and loved ones around us.

Given the crazy pandemic that’s affected many of us this year, it’s all the more important to remain at home. And it’s still completely possible to celebrate the holidays with people while staying away, whether through immediate family and roommates whom you already live with or via Zoom/Skype calls with those far away. I admit, I’ve found it really great to be able to stay in touch with close ones this way, and for me, life hasn’t changed too much in that regard.

But aside from the politics of COVID-19 and the holidays…I have the day off from work today, and I plan just to stay at home and spend time with my family. Perhaps have a nice meal together, and that’s about it. Considering that all of us in the household are adults now (and with full-time jobs), we’ve sort of outgrown gift-giving slowly over the years.

This isn’t to say that we’re not considerate of each other, but we just don’t desire nor see the need to buy gifts specifically during Christmas, as we do so in small doses throughout the entire year. Whether it’s buying a nice takeaway lunch for a day off or a gift card to our favorite café on a work anniversary, we perform these special services whenever– and it’s not limited just to Christmas time.
