Malibu Mornings
Waves lap over my toes
savoring that last bite
of sunrise by the sea:
I see how the Pacific glides
under gulls returning to shore
at the start of the day,
After sleeping, dreaming about
that glorious hour
waking up to mornings in Malibu
To sunny eggs and toast
and you holding a coffee
with a hand that held me gently
the night before.

That’s lovely and also has me wanting to be at a warm beach (it’s -4 degrees F this morning as I write this).

That’s freezing! Stay warm…even here in Los Angeles, it’s a rainy and gloomy weekend at 57Β°F.

Oh, that sounds positively balmy! Starting today we’re finally out of the deep freeze. It’s going to be 20, and in the mid 30s all week!! Yee haw!!!!!! π

Lovely poem and image! It makes me want to get up earlier in the day, although I don’t have a beach to greet me.

Thanks, Ruth! Waking up to the ocean is the dream; even I don’t live close to the beach! I appreciate you stopping by. π

Very gentle and intimate Rebecca. Lord only knows we’ve gotta get us some Malibu mornings with sunny eggs, toast and coffee one of these years.
