I wrote a guest post for my dear blogging friend, Tanja from The Red Phone Box Travels, in which I highlight a distinctive (and delicious) part of my Taiwanese culture. Give it a read! 😊

Night markets are a ubiquitous affair in Taiwan: opened from sunset to sunrise, these are the places to gather to enjoy all sorts of activities, from shopping to arcade games to, most importantly, food. This is where the community meets to hang out after dark, a way of nightlife that is perfect for people of […]

    1. I feel you: I’m exhausted by 9pm! That’s why night markets in Taiwan are convenient, as they start at sunset (around 5-6pm), so you can get an early start with food and an early end to your day! I actually don’t care for papaya on its own, but in juice/milk form, it’s refreshing and tasty! Hope you can make it over to a Taiwanese night market some day. 🙂

    1. I haven’t been to Siem Reap, but I’d love to! I’d also love to check out more night markets all over Asia and see what different kinds of food and drink they offer. Thanks for reading!

  1. Must have this in my itinerary when I revisit Taiwan. In the meantime, D and I have been going to different restaurants here serving Taiwanese dishes, but I’m sure it’s going to be a so much better experience having the food adventure in the Taiwan night markets.

  2. Nice post Rebecca. I have rarely been disappointed by an Asian food market and it looks like Taiwan has much to rival anything I’ve seen in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan, China, India and beyond. I’m sure that one of these years Sladja and I will finally travel China together. When we do, I feel like we have to hop across to Taiwan.

    1. Taiwanese night markets are some of the best in the world! I actually have yet to try the ones in SE Asia, but I can imagine they’re just as good! One of these days, I hope to spend more time traveling in Asia, since I haven’t been back in years! Hope you and Sladja can go to China and Taiwan sooner than later!
