I love a good architecture whenever I travel: there’s something about the styles– minimalist to ornate– throughout the different époques which make a city hall, a museum, a theatre, so admirable to look at. To view and to appreciate the motifs in a building offers a peek into a time period that’s not our own, and to draw inspiration from them to make our own chefs d’oeuvre in the future of architecture and design.

In the past, I’ve written a few posts about various architectural spots, from bookstores to cafés around the world. This time, I’m extending it to theatres, which not only provide so many ideas and inspiration as to how they can be designed, but also enhance the art in which it houses– acting. I’ve been to a handful of gorgeous theatres all over the world, and I’d like to share some of them which blew me away. I hope to visit more soon! Here they are:

  1. These are all so beautiful, Rebecca. I love good architecture whenever I travel, too. To the point that I often research beautiful hotel lobbies or old bank buildings and try to gain entrance without spending the night there. I find that the power of architecture lies in its sense of place — that transportive feeling you get when you wander around a city that is distinct and immersive. Other sensory markers like smell, sound, and taste also work together to give a destination its ambience, sure, but there’s nothing quite like a thoughtfully designed building to burn the memory of a place in your mind forever. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

    1. Thanks, Aiva! I appreciate the comment. I agree that architecture offers a distinctive and immersive experience in the city it’s located, to learn about the history in its design. I continue to seek out unique and beautiful architecture wherever I go. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Iceland’s is more-modern than the others, as the rest are historic affairs from the 20th century and prior. I can imagine it’d be a unique experience to watch a performance at Harpan!

  2. I didn’t know about that theater in Reykjavik when I was there. It looks amazing! So modern and different. I went to the Sydney Opera House, can’t remember what the play was but it was great to see something there, and Swan Lake in Moscow. The Bolshoi was being remodeled at the time and they had it another beautiful, but not so famous, theater.

    1. I didn’t get to see a performance in Reykjavik’s, but just exploring the interior was incredible! Given that the Sydney Opera House is world-renown, I need to head to Australia to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
