(inspired by a night in the Sahara desert- May 2017)

Stories
Tonight, the universe plays
like television in the middle of nowhere
now here, centered on the stars.
It rewinds to sunset, presses pause
on pastel cliff ridges
painted in tangerine
across green-mahogany irises.
Silhouettes of four-legged beauties
carry souk spells over humps
of sand and creed
from orientalist shadows
peering through pashmina veils
in silence:
Every breath is a story
waiting to be told, each inhale
a history lost never to retrieve.
These stories, told time and again
over Berber whisky, rest tranquil
under the Sahara sky, slipped under
sleeping bags and headscarves
in restful wonder.

Beautiful imagery! I can see it all as if it was yesterday and would go back in a heartbeat ❤ I'd love to see more creative writing about your travels!!!

Yes, I write poetry! Admittedly, it’s been a long while since I posted my last one on this blog, but I hope to put out some more in due time!
